Something to learn about US dollars and who is hooked and by how much.

From the data published on January 16 year 2009 about the holdings of
US securities by foreign governments.
Once again just two little tidbits to mention here.

1.
We all know about China, Japan, Oil countries e.t.c.
But did you know that Caribbean banking system is on the 4-th place
and holds as much as Brazil and Russia together. That is folks, a good chunk of US securities are in the gray market :) Probably even more than is acknowledged in this official paper.

2.
The fate of Britain is distinctively different from the fate of continental Europe judging from their policy towards US securities.
From Nov 2007 to Nov 2008 Britain almost doubled her stakes, whereas Germany, Italy, Belgium didn't changed. Effectively continental Europe decreased her reliance on US dollar from the percentage point during the last year.
